Training in the Active at Home exercise program
A mandatory accredited online training unit must be undertaken by any support worker planning to deliver Active at Home.
Training in Active at Home is delivered by Onfit Training College (RTO number 32107), a nationally accredited unit within the Certificate II in Sport and Recreation.
To allow for maximum flexibility, the training is provided as an online, self-paced course which can be completed anytime.
Each support worker must successfully undertake the training before they can deliver Active at Home and the cost of each support worker participating in training is additional.
Care workers have access to a ‘Circle of Support’ through the training via Onfit and, when delivering the program to clients, they are provided with ongoing support from exercise physiologists.
Onfit offers two packages for Active at Home:
- Completion of the accredited Unit of Competency ‘SISXCAI002 – Assist with activity sessions’ must be undertaken by any support worker planning to deliver Active at Home. This Unit of Competency course can also be used as a full credit towards a relevant Certificate IV qualification
- An orientation package is also available to staff of member organisations who are interesting in understanding, but not delivering, Active at Home. This orientation package, which is also online, will:
- Allow for an enhanced understanding of Active at Home, and its approach to embedding wellness and reablement, by key managers and staff in the organisation
- Assist the organisation’s allied health professionals to understand the program so they can assess client suitability when needed; support uptake of Active at Home after allied health interventions and support in home support workers delivering Active at Home
